I chose to use the threads as my paint since string is a symbol of connection. This tarot card— The Lovers—is about harmony, connection, romance, and relationships. In my rendidtion I focus on memories with loved ones with meaningful moments of connection, love and understanding. I chose colors from these memories or photos and abstractly recreated parts of them in my piece. I had originally intended the entire design to be fully covered in string but quickly realized that was not feasible as I had to cut, glue, and lay each string by hand which took hours for each small section. I love the texture the strings created on my piece and plan to continue exploring this medium when i have the time to dedicate to it.
